About Me

My Family: My husband, Justin, and our two beautiful boys,
Nathaniel , our oldest, and Weston, our youngest.
My name is Anna Schaefer and am married to my amazing husband of 9 years, Justin Schaefer.  I am also the mother to four precious kiddos.  I have two boys, Nathaniel, who is 8 years old,Weston, who is 5 years old. I also have two girls, Aria, who is 2 years old and Roselyn, who is only a few months old! I was born and raised on my family's farm in Oskaloosa, Iowa.  I later lived in Hampton, Virginia for a period of time while my husband served 4 years in the U.S. Navy on the carrier George H.W. Bush.  I am 28 years old now and thrilled to have graduated from Central College in May 2013.  I have been relentlessly working on earning my Social Science degree since graduating from Oskaloosa Senior High School in 2006.

I suppose it's cliche' to say that I always wanted to teach.  However, that is exactly the way I feel.  I have never seriously considered another career simply because teaching is something that I feel as deep as my bones.  I have a deep and unrelenting passion to work with kids on a daily basis and to be an active adult in their lives.  The teachers I had during my high school career are adults that changed my life, and I hope to have that kind of impact on my future students.  I wasn't certain what topic I wanted to teach until I reached college.  Upon diving into history and psychology classes through my general education classes, I found that I left class with a desire to learn more and think analytically about what we discussed in class.  Because of this, I decided to pursue that area of education.

Yes, they are just as ornery as they appear!
Beyond teaching, I practice photography on the side, and enjoy working outside. To relax I love visiting family members, listening to/playing music, singing, reading a great piece of fiction, writing my own tall tales, spending time with my children doing anything outside, and sketching.  I certainly love to use my imagination. I also spend a significant amount of time at my local assisted living facility and my church.  I believe that relationships can grow and heal the spirit more than any medicine, and that education can empower an individual for success more effectively than anything else.
